Who Goes to Heaven?

This is a question every soul should be able to answer. Why, because it is one of the most important questions anybody can ask. If we do not know who goes to heaven, then how are we going to know if we are going to heaven? Most people who believe that they are going to heaven cannot answer this question. Most people have it figured out that good people go heaven and bad people go to hell. If that is what you believe, how do you determine who is good and who is bad? I am so thankful that I have found the answers for these questions. We find the answers in the word of God, the bible.

No one is good.

The problem with believing that good people go to heaven and that bad people go to hell is that the bible says no one is good. A good person according to the bible is a person who does not sin.
Ecclesiastes 7:20 (KJV)
20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
This scripture tells us that a just person is one that does good and sins not. The bible further says that there is not a just person on earth.
1 Kings 8:46 (KJV)
46 … (for there is no man that sinneth not,)…
2 Chronicles 6:36 (KJV)
36 …(for there is no man which sinneth not,)…
Psalm 14:1 (KJV)
1 there is none that doeth good.
Psalm 14:3 (KJV)
3 there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Psalm 53:1 (KJV)
1 there is none that doeth good.
Romans 3:12 (KJV)
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Here is what the bible says of the person who says they are without sin.
1 John 1:10 (KJV)
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Who of us is good enough for heaven, not a one of us? Why is it that most people think they are good enough for heaven?

The standard of good

The problem with most people is that there standard of good is different than God’s standard of good. God’s standard of good is HIS law. Just by looking at a couple of God’s commandments we can quickly see we are not good, just as the bible repeatedly says over and over again. What about the first of the Ten Commandments?
Exodus 20:3 (KJV)
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Have you ever placed anything before God, have you ever made a decision you know God did not want you to make. What about the 6th commandment?
Exodus 20:13 (KJV)
13 Thou shalt not kill.
Are any of us guilty of murder? Jesus taught that this commandment goes much further than physically murdering somebody.
Matthew 5:21-22 (KJV)
21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Have ever been angry with somebody without a real cause, then Jesus said you are guilty of murder. Lastly the 9th commandment.
Exodus 20:16 (KJV)
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Bearing false witness is telling a lie, have you ever lied? Of course you have, telling a lie makes a person a liar, telling one lie makes a person a liar. Where do liars go?
Revelation 21:8 (KJV)
8 … all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
This is what we deserve for our sin, in fact the bible tells us it is our wage for sin.
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
23 For the wages of sin is death;
According to God’s standard no one is good enough for heaven. According to God’s word we are all in trouble. What if you are very close to being good, surely because you are better than most people, God will let you into heaven, WILL HE?
James 2:10 (KJV)
10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
That my friend is bad news.

Good news

Are you ready for the good news? Here is the good news, there was one man who kept all of the law, a man who walked this earth without ever sinning, a man who was pleasing to God all the time, every time. The man Jesus Christ.
John 3:16 (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Jesus took your place, dying on the cross for your sins as HE did my sins. With disgust for sin and self and a desire for forgiveness of sins and a new life, believing in HIM, Jesus will save you from the wages of sin. By doing this you can be sure of Heaven.
1 John 5:13 (KJV)
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
